GPT-6 Astra: the first model OpenAI rates Critical for cybersecurity
OpenAI released GPT-6 Astra on 3 September 2026. It is rolling out to ChatGPT Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise, and through the OpenAI API, Microsoft Azure and AWS Bedrock. It is not on the free plan. Enterprise administrators have to switch it on, because access is off by default at launch. Astra is built to operate a computer. Alongside ordinary chat it fills in forms, updates records, runs research in a browser, and produces documents, spreadsheets and slides that follow your own templates.
